The Pella Christian girls soccer team and Newton finished a weather-shortened game on Eagle Lane in a 1-1 draw, while the Eagle boys soccer team got the full match in against the Cardinals in Newton but fell 2-1.

With their tie, the Pella Christian girls now sit at 2-0-1 on the season, marking the first time since head coach Mike Buchheit took over the program in 2015 that they haven’t lost one of their first three games. Joslyn Terpstra continued a tremendous start to her senior season, netting her eighth goal in the first three games in the 18th minute. In addition to scoring her eighth goal this season, Terpstra moved up the leaderboards in several categories for the Eagles. The senior sits fourth all time in goals scored, fourth in points scored (goals and assists), and 10th in assists.

The Pella Christian boys hung tough with a Newton squad already playing their fifth game of the spring. All three goals in the match came in the first half, with the Cardinals claiming the 2-1 lead. Despite playing well throughout the night, the Eagles couldn’t find the equalizer as they fell to 1-1 on the season. Camden Parker netted the lone goal on the night for the Pella Christian boys, finding the back of the net on a corner kick.

Both the Pella Christian girls and boys soccer teams are back in action on Thursday hosting Centerville in a doubleheader. The Eagle girls kick-off the doubleheader at 5:30 p.m., with the boys soccer game to follow at approximately 7:15 p.m.
