April 16 is recognized as National Healthcare Decisions Day. It’s a day of recognition as a reminder of how important it is to think about what matters most to us and how we would want to live when faced with a serious or sudden illness.

EveryStep and Knoxville Hospital and Clinics are partnering to provide an opportunity to learn more about advance care planning on Monday, April 17.

A session will be held Monday, April 17  from 9 a.m until 1 p.m. at the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics Learning Center. According to Katrina Nelson, Public Relations Coordinator at the hospital there will be special presenters at 9:30 a.m. and at noon. Those attending can come and go as they please.

Nelson tells KNIA/KRLS News, “Our event coming up on Monday, April 17th is kind of in recognition of National Healthcare Decisions Day, which falls on April 16h this year. This day is kind of a recognition to remind people how important it is to think about what matters most at the end of life when we’re faced with those tough decisions.”

At the Monday session you will learn the importance of having a conversation with family and health care providers. How to start the discussion and how to document your decisions before it’s too late.
