The Norwalk girls soccer team cruised to their first win of the season on Friday night while the Warrior boys were shut out at home by Ankeny Centennial and dropped to 0-3.
Braelyn Clark, Avery Drymon and Addison Burch scored two goals apiece for the Warrior girls, who netted five goals in each half and finished off Des Moines Lincoln 10-0 at the Cownie Soccer Park in Des Moines. The match was called by the mercy rule with 22 minutes remaining.
Norwalk tallied 22 shots on goal and did not allow the Railsplitters a single attempt. Lyza Banegas, Addy Wood, Kenzie Hodge and Pearl Brown all scored once for the Warriors. Assist leaders included Wood with three and Drymon two. Norwalk improved to 1-2 overall while Lincoln dropped to 1-3.
The Warrior boys were defeated 4-nil by Centennial, suffering their third loss of the season to a Class 4A opponent. The visiting Jaguars, now 2-0 overall, led 1-0 at halftime before tacking on three second-half goals.
Centennial junior Andrew Heckenlaible scored a hat trick and Ty Duax had two assists. The Warriors were limited to just one shot on goal.
Both Norwalk squads return to action Tuesday night against Pella Christian. The boys will play at home and the girls travel to the Pella Soccer Complex. Both varsity games start at 5:30 p.m.
