The larger numbers for the Melcher-Dallas Girls Track and Field Squad will get another chance to run, jump and throw at the Guy Clark Relays at Central Decatur tonight. The Saints have been strong in the distance races with Addi Wadle and Hayley Stegman posting good times. Currently Stegman is 3rd in the Bluegrass Conference in the 1500 with a time of 5:56.11 while Wadle is 3rd in the 800 at 2:53.88, with Stegman right behind at 2:55.26. Kiana Jackson is 4th in the 3000 at 16:55.43. Coach Amy Stuart tells KNIA Sports while the open events are getting sorted out, the relay events are still a work in progress.
Stuart: “Continuing trying to switch things up to run our best, especially in the relay legs. I’m still trying to move girls around to see who does best and seeing who can score points in those events.”
Seven of the teams in tonight’s events are from the Bluegrass Conference giving the Saints a slight preview of what they could see in their meet next week and in the conference meet later in the season.
