Work continues on the southern alley on the Indianola Downtown Reconstruction Project, with construction workers having to work through multiple utilities conflicts. Community and Economic Development Director Charlie Dissell tells KNIA News the current construction closed a portion of Buxton St., which should be open for traffic next week.
“As we’ve done some construction through the alleys, we are noticing some very old infrastructure in there and a lot of other utilities such as other fiber optic utilities, communication utilities, gas utilities, that are not owned by the city. So we are running into quite a few conflicts there. We expected that to happen, so it wasn’t unexpected but we are working through some of those conflicts.”
Construction on the northern alley could begin as soon as April 24th, weather permitting. For more information, tune in to today’s Let’s Talk Indianola.
