It was a successful Thursday for the two Dutch varsity teams in spring sports action.
Pella’s #7 in Class 2A girls soccer team scored a flurry of goals in the first half and never looked back in a 6-0 victory over Carlisle. The Dutch at one point had three goals in a 1:25 stretch and tallied their half dozen before the 24th minute, which included a hat trick from Abby Warner, a pair from Tatum Carlstone, and the final tally from Anneka Stoltzfus — who officially signed to Dordt University just 24 hours prior. Pella improves to 3-1 overall and has a top ten showdown with #4 Waverly-Shell Rock on the road Saturday.
Head Coach Mark Howard:
“It was a very windy night, and we had the wind to start, which I believe to be a big deal and we took advantage of it. The opposing goalkeeper had 20 saves, so they did a nice job in the second half while we had everyone come in off the bench and had significant minutes of experienced play.”
The Dutch girls track and field team earned their first Drake Relays Blue Standard of the season with a strong performance at the Knoxville Panther Relays, winning the overall meet with 157 team points. Pella’s 4×100 relay of Delanie Reynolds, Mollie Renaud, Marissa Hackman, and Kamryn Long clocked in at 50.78 to earn a second trip to Drake Stadium following Saturday’s Jim Duncan invitational. Pella also had event wins in the following:
