The south alley is currently under construction on the downtown Indianola Square as part of the next phase of the Downtown Square Reconstruction Project, with work on the north alley beginning soon. Community and Economic Development Director Charlie Dissell tells KNIA News work doesn’t necessarily have to be fully completed on the south alley before work on the next phase begins, it depends on the contractor’s personnel.
“They have different crews coming in and doing different things. They have a crew that’s coming in and doing the underground utilities, another crew coming in and doing paving work. So as one crew finishes up, our hope is then that crew can move to another alley and start there, and we can jump around the square as we are doing this just to assure we are getting this done this year. That is the goal.”
The earliest work is expected to begin on the north alley is April 24th.
