A pair of long road trips highlighted a colder Saturday for the Dutch boys and girls soccer teams.
In a top 10 showdown, the #7 in 2A Pella girls fell to #4 Waverly-Shell Rock 1-0, ultimately dropping a penalty kick shootout after 100 minutes of scoreless soccer, highlighted by 18 saves by Haley Van Houweling. Pella’s girls fall to 3-2 and host Indianola Tuesday.
Pella’s boys soccer team found a pair of bounce back victories at the Cedar Rapids Washington invitational, defeating the hosts in the morning 4-0 and then #16 in 3A Mt. Vernon 3-0 in the afternoon. Logan Solomon scored four goals and Austin Bone, Teddy Apostolopoulos, and Markus Ljungberg each had a tally as well. Pella improved to 3-2 overall and heads to Indianola Tuesday.
