Warren County Master Gardeners, the Warren County Extension Office, and Indianola Parks and Rec are partnering to implement a Community Garden this summer, growing produce to be donated to the Helping Hand of Warren County. Bethany Cecot with the Warren County Extension Office tells KNIA News the community aspect of the garden will be helping the local master gardeners grow the garden into something that is beneficial to all.
“Anything from weeding, watering, getting the produce picked, cleaned, and delivered, those are all the things that we will need help with. We do have a couple work days coming up, April 22nd our Earth Day Workday we will hopefully be finishing up with getting the beds all filled up with dirt. We will also then on April 30th be working on getting all the mulch spread throughout the garden.”
Cecot also said there is a date that has yet to be determined that volunteers will help put up fencing around the garden, so if anyone is interested in assisting they should contact the Extension Office. The produce grown at the garden includes fruit and vegetables, and will go towards feeding those in need across Warren County.
