The Norwalk girls tennis team improved to 4-0 on Monday while the boys track and girls golf teams also competed.
Girls tennis wins 11-0
The Warrior tennis girls dominated their dual meet at Waukee Northwest, winning all 11 varsity matches. Singles play results included victories by Kelsey Dammeier (10-8), Anya Kallenbach (10-3), Madison Haskell (10-8), Ava Johnson (10-0), Katie Larson (11-9), and Sami Aagard (10-5). All six girls teamed up for doubles wins as well, along with Grace Dehmer and Tessa Livingston and Katie Thielen and Sutton McNelly. Norwalk hosts Pella Christian today at 4:15 p.m.
Boys track 2nd in home meet
Pella won the Norwalk Boys Track Invitational with 203 points, followed by the second-place Warriors with 140. Norwalk claimed gold in four events, including Kaiden Kunze’s winning leap of six feet in the high jump. The Warriors also won three relays with the sprint medley team of Landon Hochstein, Tanner Merriman, Dillon Ranck and Jacey Hutson, the 4×800 quartet of Will Chase, Carson Fenster, Jamison Bice and Ethan Franklin, and the 4×200 team of Hutson, Hochstein, Braeden Carlson and Ranck.
Second-place Norwalk events included Hochstein in the 100-meter dash, Eli Robbins in the 200, Luka Flores in the 800, Tony Anania in the 1,600, Maddux Borcherding-Johnson in the shot put and the distance medley and shuttle hurdle relays. Corbin Oswald placed third in both the 3,200 and the 800.
The Warriors will compete in a few select events at today’s Johnston track meet and also attend Thursday’s Waukee Relays in an effort to qualify more events for next week’s Drake Relays.
Girls golf 3rd at Winterset
The Norwalk girls golfers placed third out of six teams at Monday’s Winterset Invitational held at Lakeview Country Club. Winterset won the tournament with a score of 384, followed by Van Meter with a 410 and Norwalk’s 418. Warrior senior Ruby Hoch placed third individually with a round of 96 and teammate Allie Soukup was fifth with a 99. The Warriors will be in Grimes today for a triangular against Pella and DC-G.
