Pella Girls Soccer Dominates Over Indianola; Boys Fall on Road
The #7 in 2A Pella girls soccer team made short work of Indianola 7-0 Tuesday, while the Dutch boys were held out of the goal despite several chances in a 1-0 loss to the Indians on the road. At home, Pella had a few flurries of goals, including a stretch of three scores in a 1:15 in the second half. Abby Warner finished with four goals, Claire Smock added a pair, and Lizzie Neumann tallied a late score. Avary Hunsinger had a pair of assists and Haley Van Houweling had three saves. Pella’s girls are 4-2 overall and host #3 in 2A North Polk on Thursday.
On the road, both Pella and Indianola saw opportunities in the game to score, but the Dutch struggled to finish. Indianola scored on a direct kick about 25 yards out with minutes to play in the first half and the Indians led 1-0 at halftime. Head Coach Mark Solomon credited the road team with strong play in the goal to keep a relentless Pella attack from finding the back of the net. Pella falls to 3-3 overall and heads to the Pella Soccer Complex to host Ottumwa Thursday.
