The Simpson baseball team used some late game heroics to pick up a crucial American Rivers Conference victory over Nebraska Wesleyan Tuesday, winning 5-3 over the Prairie Wolves. The Storm had a massive game from freshman Ian Baldwin, who opened the game with a double and scored the game’s first run, then Baldwin drove in a run in the second in addition to Simpson scoring on a passed ball to lead to a 3-0 lead. The Prairie Wolves scored three unanswered to tie the score, but Baldwin came up again in the ninth with an RBI single, and eventually scored on a passed ball. Baldwin had three hits, two RBI’s, and two runs scored. Simpson is now 14-17 overall and 4-11 in the conference, and host a three-game series against Coe this weekend.
