The Indianola City Council held a work session about the South K Street Project at their most recent meeting, reviewing how the assessments will work as the project unfolds. City Manager Ben Reeves tells KNIA News the city and staff were focused on how to pay for the project in the most fair way possible.
“Our engineers met with our attorney’s and we needed to get direction from the council on how to go about doing that in the least impactful way possible, but with the most fairness in how we apply assessment so we are proportionally paying for the project. Those who would receive the most benefit pay a little more, those who are receiving less pick up less, and then of course the community picks up the remainder.”
Reeves said the project will be a big benefit to Indianola, as South K Street is in need of a lot of work.
