Boys Soccer Toughs Out 1-0 Win Over Chariton
In a gritty match in the not best weather conditions, the Knoxville Boys Soccer Squad outlasted Chariton 1-0 Friday night to stay unbeaten in the South Central Conference. Ezra Schmidt had the only goal of the match and goalie Carson Cecil had a clean sheet on the night. Coach Dylan Mick says Cecil is developing into a goalkeeper that does everything right and makes an occasional heroic play.
Mick: “He’s truly developing into a special goalkeeper, he has four clean sheets on the season, and that’s also a team thing, but he’s truly a blast to have back there.”
Knoxville is now 6-2 and 3-0 in conference play. The Panthers will host Newton on Monday.
Girls Tennis 4th At Panther Invitational
Knoxville finished 4th at its own girls tennis invitational on Friday. The Panthers scored seven points and got a 4th place from Janie Maasdam in singles play. Knoxville travels to Southeast Polk on Monday. There were supposed to be a couple of events going on today for Knoxville teams, but the boys golf outing at Denison was canceled as was the boys tennis squad’s road trip to Atlantic.
