After dropping both of their contests this past week, the Pella Christian boys soccer team is working on cleaning things up defensively.
The Eagles held a 2-1 first half advantage over Central Iowa United Monday but allowed three second half goals in a 4-2 loss. Pella Christian then lost on Tuesday to a Class 3A ranked Dallas Center-Grimes 9-0. Eagles head coach Jake Fancher said that while there is plenty of games to turn things around, improving his team’s communication on the defensive end of the field will be a key in doing so.
“Well, it’s still early in the season for us, we still have nine games left. So, I kind of expected it to be up and down. I think that we’ve just had some defensive breakdowns in communication, and I think those things can be cleaned up.”
The Pella Christian boys soccer team begins a busy three game week Tuesday, with a home match against Indianola.
