Five sports are having events Monday for Knoxville. Girls golf plays another 18 hole meet at Chariton. The Panthers finished 9th last week at Oskaloosa with Faith Roozeboom leading the way with an 88 on the day. Girls tennis will travel to Southeast Polk. Knoxville finished 4th at its own invitational on Friday. Boys tennis returns home to the Joel Tonda Tennis Courts to meet Grinnell. The Panthers lost both of their matches last week, and had their trip to Atlantic on Saturday get canceled because of weather. Knoxville’s soccer squads are at separate sites this evening. The girls will travel to Chariton. Coach Bethany Johnson tells KNIA/KRLS this three game winning streak they are on is a big help to building confidence.
Johnson: “Getting more wins, and getting more confident in the girls. Sometimes they get down on themselves after a couple of losses and I just want to tell them that they can do this.”
The boys have an important contest between two ranked squads as class 3A #7 Newton plays class 2A #13 Knoxville from Randy Wilson Track. While the Panthers are injured, coach Dylan Mick is using the next man up mentality. The match is set to begin at 7:00.
