A victorious outing in his first decathlon of the season earned Central College men’s track and field athlete Brody Klein the American Rivers Conference Men’s Field Events Performer of the Week Monday.
Competing at the John Green Combined Events hosted by Doane University last week, Klein finished first in a field of 16 entries in the decathlon. His total of 6,285 points put him up to No. 13 nationally in the event. A 2022 national qualifier in the event, it was Klein’s first decathlon of the season. Within the decathlon, Klein’s pole vault of 15 feet, 2.75 inches was a new personal-best mark for him and is #40 in Division III this season. It’s the third-best pole vault in program history. Klein earned his first conference performer of the week honors in track and field. He was named the league’s Football Defensive Player of the Week on November 7, 2022.
Central’s track and field teams will be split between the Kip Janvrin Open in Indianola and the Drake Relays in Des Moines.
