A defensive showdown highlighted a Little Hawkeye Conference girls soccer matchup Monday in a make-up, as #7 in 2A Pella edged #12 in 2A Norwalk in penalty kicks. The Dutch girls held off an aggressive Warriors attack, highlighted by 18 saves from Haley Van Houweling in the net, and had a few close chances at goals near the end of regulation and in the final minute of both overtime periods. A 0-0 draw after 100 minutes turned into a bit of a scoring frenzy during the penalty kick showdown, with each team netting four before the sudden death second round. Pella freshman Avary Hunsinger found the back of the net after a clutch save by Van Houweling to earn the victory. The Dutch girls are now 6-2 overall and 2-1 in the conference.
