A host of Indianola spring sports teams were in action Tuesday, including boys and girls tennis, boys and girls soccer, girls golf, and the boys track team.

The girls golfers took home a first place finish at Grinnell, shooting a team score of 187. Amelia Moorlach was meet medalist via tiebreaker over teammate Camryn Overton with each shooting a 46, while Abbie Corbett finished in third with a 47, and Reese Lucas shot a 48 to place fourth as the Indians earned all top four spots. They next hit the links Monday at their home meet at the Indianola Country Club.

The Indians soccer teams split with Pella Christian, the boys dominating 6-0 and the girls falling 4-1. The Indians boys got out to a lead in the first half with a goal from Alex Middleswart, then got five goals in the second half as Jakob Kjellberg earned a brace, Aiden Keller, Cole Burke, and Hunter Chittenden all found the back of the net. The squad is now 4-6 on the season and 2-0 in the Little Hawkeye Conference.

The Indians girls got a goal from Angelika Miller with an assist from Rylee Burns, but couldn’t keep up with the high-flying Eagles. Indianola falls to 3-3 on the season and 1-2 in the conference. Both teams next play tomorrow, the girls against Des Moines Lincoln and the boys home vs Dallas Center-Grimes.

The boys tennis team fell 8-3 to both Grinnell and North Polk in a triangular Tuesday at home. The Indians got wins in singles from Erik Jensen and Justus Woell against Grinnell, while the doubles pairing of Joe Comer/Michael Rothchild also picked up a win. Against North Polk, Woell picked up the lone singles win, while the doubles teams of Eli Chadwick/Tate Dales and Kinnick Werling/Ben Mahlstadt both won.

The girls fell 10-1 to Grinnell, with the win coming from the doubles team of Keely Greubel/Carmen Christensen. The squads hit the court again tomorrow against DCG.

And the Indians boys track and field team placed 4th at Carlisle, scoring 94 team points. First place finishes from the team included the Distance Medley and 4x400m Relay Teams, Kiefer Barnes was 2nd in the 1600m, while Jack Hilton was 3rd in the 400m, Owen Cambron was 3rd in the discus, and the Sprint Medley Relay Team was also 3rd. Indianola competes again Friday, sending athletes to the Drake Relays.
