Pella High School seniors were recognized for their efforts during their four years with the band program.

Senior Drum Major Elisabeth Pumphrey and Eliza Van Zee were the 2023 Director’s Choice Award winners, while both Payton Lyons and Isaac Boualavong won the Arion Award at the end of the academic year concert Monday. The Arion Award was established in 1948 to give national recognition to junior and senior class members chosen by their schools for outstanding achievement in band, orchestra or chorus. Students who receive Arion Awards attain both academic and community standing.

Morgan Uitermarkt was the Dick Redman Excellence in Jazz Award recipient, awarded to the most outstanding senior in the program annually.

Pella’s band students will be featured with choir and orchestra this Friday at the annual Carnaby Club, starting at 7 p.m. at Pella High School.
