All eight spring sports teams were in action Tuesday for the green and white.

Pella Soccer Offenses Shine Against Newton
Offense was key as the Dutch soccer teams both knocked off Newton Tuesday. The Pella boys defeated #9 in 3A Newton 5-3 at home, while the #7 in 2A Dutch girls won 5-0 on the road. At home, the Dutch scored three goals in the first half, keyed by Teddy Apostolopoulos and Logan Solomon, including a goal in the final two seconds. Apostolopoulos scored on a 45 yard free kick after a Newton yellow card, and Austin Bone got much needed insurance as the Cardinals scored three times in the second half. Pella moves to 4-4 overall, and hosts Fort Madison and ADM on Saturday for the Dutch Invitational Tournament.

The Pella girls featured a five-goal performance from All-State striker Abby Warner and had 28 attacks on goal as they flexed their scoring muscle. The Dutch girls are now 7-2 overall and head to #4 in 1A Nevada Thursday.


Pella Tennis Teams Continue Conference Dominance in Newton
The road warriors of the Dutch tennis teams continued to shine in conference action as the #1 in 1A Pella boys won 11-0 and the #5 in 1A girls were 10-1 victors in Newton.

Both teams are next in action Thursday in Norwalk.

Pella Sweeps Grinnell Tigers Co-Ed Track and Field Relays
Ahead of their home Tulip Time Relays and the Drake Relays this week, the Pella boys and girls track and field teams both won the Grinnell meet Tuesday. The Dutch boys’ 4×100 relay of Kenson Fuller, Cam Schulte, Quinn Gruver, and CJ Shetterly broke their own school record going 42.9 seconds and Marissa Ferebee now has the fastest 1500 meter run in the program at 4:52.52. No team scores were released but both Dutch teams had top finishes from:

Pella Girls Golfers Find One-Stroke Advantage in Grinnell
While No. 1 player Karsyn Lyons was a late scratch and Ellie Wogen was on Tulip Court duty, the remaining five for the Pella girls golf team were able to find a narrow conference win Tuesday, knocking off Grinnell 192-193. Leading scores were Kennedy Van Vark — Runner-Up Medalist (44), Landrey Els (48), Olivia Hood (50), and Emerson Lee (50). Pella is 4-1 in conference duals and heads to Fairfield Thursday.

Pella Boys Golf Places 6th in Deep Field at Oskaloosa
A strong field of golf teams converged in Oskaloosa, with the Dutch boys placing 6th out of 15 schools Tuesday. Cole Floden carded an 80 to lead the team to a score of 328, followed by Luke Naig (82), and Cade McGinley and AJ Hoekstra with 83 each. The Dutch head to The Preserve in Moravia Thursday.
