Simpson College had yet another record broken in men’s track and field this season, as Spencer Moon broke a record that has been held since 1984 by 25 seconds in the 10,000 meter run, leading to him being named as the American Rivers Conference Men’s Track Performer of the Week.
Moon now has seven total school records in track and field (four indoor, three outdoor) as well as holding the 8k record in cross country. Moon’s time came within a second of the current conference record and currently ranks seventh nationally this season. Additionally, the mark ranks 21st all-time in Division III history.
Both track and field teams will compete this week by hosting the Kip Janvrin Open, a two-day meet beginning tomorrow.
