The Indianola Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Shop Local Saturday tomorrow, encouraging Indianola residents to “Buy It In Indianola”, a slogan dating back to the origins of the Indianola Chamber in 1915, when it was the Indianola Commercial Club. Chamber President and CEO Amanda Zwanziger tells KNIA News she encourages shoppers to shop local, and while it can be convenient and easy to shop online, helping local businesses helps all of us.

“There are things that you go out on Amazon and buy, but when you do that we are not keeping that investment in our community. When you shop local, you are not just helping a local business owner, you are contributing to our community here. For every dollar spent, sixty-seven cents stays in the local business community. That means reinvestment into the community that we live in, that helps this become a better place to live and our quality of life.”
