While their top athletes were competing at Drake Stadium, resting for upcoming races at the Drake Relays, or limited by the showcase in Des Moines, a large group of Dutch athletes competed at the Tulip Time Relays Thursday.

Pella Girls Soccer Wins Another Overtime Thriller
Another ranked clash for the #5 in 2A Pella girls soccer team ended in the victory column, as the Dutch knocked off #2 in Class 1A in Nevada Thursday 2-1 in Double OT. Abby Warner scored early at 29:51 of the first half of regulation, and the Cubs scored in 26th minute of the second half. Avary Hunsinger finished the match in the second overtime with her first career goal on a Warner shot that was mishandled by the Nevada goalkeeper. Pella improves to 8-2 overall and next heads to Pella Christian as part of a varsity doubleheader Monday evening.

Dutch Tennis Boys Sweep Norwalk
The top-ranked Pella boys tennis team closed the regular season in dominating fashion, sweeping Norwalk 11-0 Thursday. The Dutch finished the 2023 Little Hawkeye Conference circuit a perfect 77-0. Pella heads to Grinnell for the conference meet next Wednesday.

Pella Girls Fall to Warriors
The #5 in 1A Pella girls tennis team fell 8-3 to a strong Norwalk team. Head Coach Josh McCollam says it was a tough night for the Dutch, as they found themselves playing from behind to begin most of the matches. Emily Blom and Bryn Higginbotham got wins at #1 and #6 Singles. Alloree Else and Lily VanDusseldorp were the lone doubles win at #1. Pella will host their home invitational on Saturday morning at Pella Christian.

Pella Boys 4th in Deep Moravia Field
The Pella boys golf team placed 4th in a deep field at the Moravia Invitational Thursday. Cade McGinley was the 5th best individual with a score of 75, tying his season low. AJ Hoekstra carded a 79, Cole Floden scored an 82, and Luke Naig and Luke Keitges each tallied 86 on their score cards. The Dutch are in action Saturday at Pine Knolls Country Club in Knoxville.

Pella Girls Miss Several Regulars in Fairfield
Down four starters, the Pella girls golf team hung tough placing third at a triangular in Fairfield. The Dutch shot 207, trailing hosts Fairfield (187) and winners Keokuk (183). Leading scores for the Dutch included Emerson Lee (49), Kennedy VanVark (51), Carlyn Henry (53), and Jenna Oltman (54). Pella next heads to the Indianola County Club Monday.
