The Simpson baseball team split the final two games of their series against #24 Buena Vista, upsetting the Beavers 10-8 in game one and falling 16-6 in game two.
The Storm had home runs from Sam Porter early to take a 3-2 lead in game one, followed by a three-run shot by Matthew Marquez to put Simpson up 6-4 after the third. The Beavers scored four unanswered in the fifth and sixth innings to take a 8-6 lead however, but Simpson tied it up in the seventh scoring a run on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly. Lucas Juhl drove in the eventual game winning run in the top of the ninth, and Simpson held on in the bottom of the inning despite BV loading the bases. Game two saw the Storm fall behind 5-0 before getting their first runs across in the fifth, but the Beavers scored eleven runs over the next three innings to end the game early.
The Storm are now 15-22 overall and 5-16 in the conference, and will play Dubuque for a three-game series this weekend.
