Norwalk and Dallas Center-Grimes were tied 1-1 midway through the second half of Tuesday’s Little Hawkeye Conference girls soccer clash in Norwalk. The Class 2A top-ranked Fillies were too much down the stretch, however, scoring three times to defeat the 13th-ranked Warriors 4-1.
DC-G won for the seventh time in its last eight games, improving to 9-3 overall and 4-0 in conference play. Norwalk is now 8-5 overall and 4-2 in the Little Hawkeye.
Trailing 1-nil at halftime, the Warriors scored off a scramble in the box to tie the score in the second half. DC-G responded quickly, retaking the lead on Hannah Renz’s volley goal and adding two more scores to pull away.
Norwalk returns to the pitch Friday night, playing a 7:00 p.m. non-conference match at Class 3A 13th-ranked Urbandale.
