The Indianola City Council approved an ordinance at their most recent meeting to simplify the process of businesses applying to use city sidewalks for businesses on the square and surrounding area. City Manager Ben Reeves tells KNIA News the square reconstruction has opened new opportunities for businesses to take advantage of, and this ordinance makes it a simpler process.
“We just wanted to streamline it and make it easier for businesses to utilize the sidewalk when they have a need. So we changed the process so we don’t have to have individual agreements with every business owner and have that run through the council each time. We just made a holistic change to the ordinance that gives a little bit more ability for the staff to interact and work with the business owners to help support them in their business endeavors.”
