Finally, the Knoxville Raceway had a race night and it was the Aaron Reutzel Show as he went two for Saturday winning both the 360 and 410 A-Mains while Matthew Stelzer played a waiting game and took command after a restart to win the season opening Pro Sprints Race as heard live on KNIA. Reutzel had a commanding lead in the 360 main event, but coming down the backstretch his power steering hose came off saturating him with fluid to the point he was unable to grip the steering wheel. He bounced off the wall in turn four and flattened his right rear tire but still hung on for the win. In the 410 show, he took the lead on the second lap and cruised to the win only being slowed twice for yellow flag sessions. Reutzel told KNIA/KRLS Sports he could put the car just about anywhere on a racy track.
Reutzel: “There at the end I was running through the middle and I could go anywhere. The track was awesome, the team was awesome, just can’t thank them enough for where I am.”
Stelzer passed Ryan Navratil, who led early and won by almost a straightaway. Another night of racing awaits this Saturday.
