In a first of its kind at Central College, Dutch football player Que Baker-McCaulay has signed a Name, Image and Likeness, or NIL, deal with local business Pella Real Estate Services.
The arrangement was spearheaded by PRES agent Brett Staton, who is a former Central football player himself. He saw an opportunity to live up to the Pella Real Estate Services mission of Investing in Lives Through Real Estate.
“This is the perfect opportunity to invest in Que’s life, on the football field and off”, Staton said. “He’s a really talented kid, he’s really artistic and he’s got a good head on his shoulders. We’re excited for this partnership.”
Baker-McCaulay is the starting left tackle for the Dutch, and will be coming back for his fifth season that was granted by the NCAA due to the loss of his sophomore season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He says that this partnership helped make the decision to come back a lot easier.
“To be honest, I didn’t think that college was an option for me even growing up”, Baker-McCaulay said. “Going to a school where I’m having to pay to play, this is a blessing because it definitely takes some of the financial pressure off me and my family.”
Staton and Baker-McCaulay will be working together this summer and fall to come up with creative ways to promote the partnership and connect the Pella community more closely with the Central College football team.
