Pella Regional Health Center has announced that Jennifer Pauls, RN, in Emergency Department is the recipient of the quarterly DAISY Award. The DAISY program is a national award, given at the local level, to registered nurses who exemplify extraordinary nursing. The focus is on the special touches and human consideration these nurses give to their patients.
Excerpt from Jennifer’s nomination by Martha and James Daggett:
“Jennifer displayed a quiet and unhurried approach as she cared for my husband while he was seeking emergency care on a Sunday evening. As a retired nurse, I had run out of options for his pain and knew we needed help. After triage, Jennifer explained why he was being assigned to a trauma room in order to best monitor and investigate his concerns. She explained each procedure as she quietly and efficiently performed each one. She continuously asked if we had questions following each patient teaching. She showed compassion during our stay.”
Pauls received a certificate that reads: “In deep appreciation of all you do, who you are, and the incredibly meaningful difference you make in the lives of so many people.” She was also given a sculpture called A Healer’s Touch, hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Africa.
