Knoxville Boys Storms To SCC Title With A 288

The Knoxville Boys Golf Squad scorched the Honey Creek Resort golf course with a team score of 288 and won the South Central Conference title by 21 shots. Carson Uitermarkt shot a -2 70 to claim the individual conference title. Kail Arkema finished 3rd scoring a -1 71 after a five hole playoff, and Evan Smith came in with a +1 73 for 5th place. Coach Barry Smith tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the players feed off each other and that is when they are at their best.

Smith: “They’ve gone through this grind, they know what they’re capable of doing. You see the promise, and they feed off each other, when they know how each other is doing and they have that can’t wait to get to the next hole mentality, we’re a tough team.”

Noah Keefer had a +2 74 to finish in 7th place, Beau Leisure shot a 79 and Brady Roozeboom carded an 83. The Panthers will look to the class 3A sectional on Wednesday at Williamsburg.

Knoxville Girls Soccer Blows Out Clarke, Boys Lose To Indians In 2OT

The Knoxville Soccer Squads split a varsity double header with Clarke on Monday. The girls had little resistance from the Indians as they hammered Clarke 10-0 in a match that lasted just 40:00. Hanna Linsley scored a hat trick while Emily Dean and Charlye Willis scored two goals, Janae Baker, Payton Horn, and Ashley Kearney, on a penalty kick all scored goals for the Panthers, who go to 7-5 on the season. The boys for the 5th time this season went to extra minutes and fell to the Indians 1-0 in double overtime. The Panthers fall to 8-5.

Knoxville Boys And Girls Track And Field 6th At Pella

The Knoxville Boys Track and Field Squad finished 6th at the Pella Invitational while the girls also placed 6th in the event. Three 1st place finishes highlighted the boys night as Koby Higginbotham scored two of the gold medals in individual events winning the 110 hurdles in a time of :15.54 and the high jump at 6/2. The girls cashed in on one 1st place performance with Ciara Heffron winning the discus with a throw of 134-7 inches.

Knoxville Boys Tennis Unable To Get Anyone To State Meet

The Knoxville Boys Tennis Squad went to Pella Christian on Monday for the individual district competition. In singles Konner Leslie won his 1st round singles match over Matthew Selby of Albia but then lost to Beau Bush of Pella in the quarterfinals. Knoxville’s other singles player Jack Fleton lost to Pella Christian’s Isaac Natelborg in the 1st round. In doubles, the team of Elijah Bumgardner and Caleb Murra beat a duo from Centerville but lost to a team from Pella in the quarterfinals. Henry Picard and Tyce Huyck fell in the 1st round match to a team from Pella.
