jos-terpstra-breaks-records

The Pella Christian girls kicked-off a soccer doubleheader on Eagle Lane Tuesday night by dominating rival Oskaloosa for a 7-0 victory, and the Eagles boys capped off the sweep of the Indians with a 3-0 decision.

Joslyn Terpstra rewrote the record books in the Pella Christian girls soccer team’s rout of Oskaloosa, claiming two scoring records. The senior posted a double-hat-trick, breaking the school records for goals in a single game with six and goals in a single season with 34. Those records add to the three she had already set for points (86) and assists (19) in a single season and assists in a career (30). Joslyn’s goals came in the 7th, 11th, 42nd, 45th, 52nd, and 60th minutes. Fellow senior Jenna Edel was the other Eagle to score in the contest, adding her goal in the 79th minute. Jenna, Lexi Terpstra and Esther Ford all added assists in the win, and Dani Roose and Addie Van Arendonk combined for the shutout in the goal.

The Pella Christian boys jumped in front early in the nightcap of the doubleheader, as Ethan Van Arendonk found the back of the net  just under seven minutes into the contest. The Eagles held that 1-0 advantage for most of the night but with just under 12 minutes left in the game, Van Arendonk added his second goal to give Pella Christian some breathing room. With just over six minutes remaining in the game, Camden Parker put the Indians away for good with the final goal of the night from nearly 20 yards out. Wyatt Snyder, Jack Fancher, and Van Arendonk contributed assists in the victory, and Keegan Fopma recorded the shutout as the goalkeeper.

The Eagles girls soccer team improved to 10-4-1 and the boys soccer squad’s record is now 6-7. The Pella Christian soccer teams will wrap up the regular season on Friday with a road doubleheader at Van Meter, which begins with the girls game at 5 p.m.
