A 36-year-old man from Pleasantville was arrested and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault Third or Subsequent Offense for an incident that took place May 8 in Pleasantville.

A Pleasantville officer was called to the scene of a reported domestic in process. The Pleasantville officer was assisted by a Marion County Deputy. The officers encountered a man identified as Ronald Washington Jr. at the scene.

Washington allegedly told officers he was there to pick up property from the victim. An argument ensued and Washington allegedly picked up a baseball bat and struck the victims passenger car mirror. The victim was not injured, but was grabbed by the wrist. The victim was in fear of being harmed. 

Washington has two prior convictions for domestic abuse. Washington was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail. Washington was also charged with a serious misdemeanor for Criminal Mischief 4th Degree.

As with any criminal case, a charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
