The school year is coming to a close. That means it is time to look ahead and start planning for students at all grade levels in elementary school.

Knoxville Northstar Principal John Keitges tells KNIA/KRLS News, “Step Up Day is a day that when Cassi Pearson, our Superintendent, started here, she kind of brought it to our attention of what’s the possibility if we could create class lists and notify students about who their teacher would be in the upcoming school year. They would have a chance to go visit their classroom teacher for anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. Get to know their teacher and kind of get a feel for possibly a new building. So second graders from West Elementary would come over here. Third graders will go up to fourth grade and fourth graders up to fifth.”

Instead of being assigned to a certain classroom, students will go to each classroom at the next grade level. It is a kindergarten through fourth grade Step Up Day. Step Up Day will be held May 17.
