Work continues on the Indianola Downtown Square Reconstruction Project alleys over the next several weeks. City of Indianola Community and Economic Development Director Charlie Dissell tells KNIA News beginning Tuesday, N Buxton St between Ashland and Boston will be closed to thru traffic in order to connect the new water main that will be placed in the north alley. During that time, parking will still be available, and it is anticipated the closure will last three weeks.
The City continues to work with Mid-American Energy Company regarding a conflict with their gas main and services in the alleys. Mid-American is wrapping up their engineering work on the design of this relocation and is working to get their contractor on site to relocate the lines, and once the contractor is on site, Mid-American has indicated they have about two-weeks’ worth of work. The delay is anticipated to extend the closure of the south alley for one month, and is now anticipated to be closed through late July.
