Several rounds of severe thunderstorms brought brief tornadoes, hail, and heavy rain to Marion and Warren Counties Saturday afternoon. The KNIA/KRLS Severe Weather Action Team was on the air from 12:35 to 4:15 p.m. and again from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. for eight different tornado warnings and several severe thunderstorm warnings for slow-moving storms that dumped heavy rain over Knoxville, Pella, and other areas of the county, that also spawned multiple weak tornadoes south and west of Pleasantville and east of Knoxville. Storm damage was reported in the 1800 Block of T-15, and street flooding was reported throughout Knoxville due to three-plus inches of rain that fell in less than an hour. Minor flash flooding also occurred in Pella and near Otley. One-inch in diameter hail was reported at the KNIA/KRLS Studios in Knoxville. Seven staff members contributed to live coverage for Marion and Warren Counties, which included updates from Weatherology, the National Weather Service, and Marion County Emergency Management.
