The Knoxville Girls Tennis Squad was eliminated from the regional with a 5-1 loss to Oskaloosa on Saturday. The lone win for Knoxville came at #4 singles as Iselynn Prevo won her match 6/4, 7/5. The Panthers this season won three head-to-head duals. Knoxville does not lose any seniors from this year’s squad.
The Knoxville Boys Golf Squad has one more course to maneuver to get their 3rd state meet appearance and the Panthers do not have far to travel, as Bos Landen in Pella will host the class 3A district meet today. The Panthers won the sectional last week at Williamsburg and look to continue their season today. Coach Barry Smith tells KNIA/KRLS Sports, after an early season round at Bos Landen where Knoxville did not have a good day, he feels the guys are ready to have another chance.
Smith: “But now I’m now seeing the scores slip into the 70s and Evan has been in the 60s the last three 18 hole meets. The weather has been warming up so it’s getting easier to swing, and the boys have been feeding off the momentum lately.”
The Panthers are looking for their third consecutive State Meet appearance.
