Trying to put the cherry on top of an already great season, the Pella Christian boys golf team will try to secure a spot in the State Tournament at the Mediapolis Class 2A District meet Monday morning.
Competing in Wapello, the Eagles face off against Albia, Durant, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, Madrid, Pleasantville, Tipton, Union Community, West Branch, and the hosts Mediapolis. Pella Christian has proven they can compete with some of the state’s best throughout the season, including defeating the reigning Class 3A champion Gilbert. With just one meet standing in the way of a spot at State, junior Isaiah Breems and the squad have their eyes set on the ultimate prize.
“We all obviously want to win the state championship” Breems stated. “That’s a really big goal for us, especially since we haven’t made state golf in many years. So, we can’t get our expectations too high, but that’s obviously our goal for the end of the year.”
The Eagles chances of making state and trying to win the championship starts Monday morning at Heritage Oaks Golf and Country Club in Wapello at 10 a.m.
