PCM Boys Golf Season Ends with Tie for 4th at District Meet

It was a rough day for the Class 2A #2 ranked PCM boys golf team on Monday, as they shot a 345 as a team and didn’t qualify for State after finishing in a tie for 4th place with South Central Calhoun. Competing in the Kuemper Catholic District meet, the Mustangs finished eight strokes back of Des Moines Christian, who finished third and qualified for State as the host Knights won the meet with a score of 299. PCM brings back most of the core from this year’s squad, as they graduate just one senior in Grant Van Veen.

Overtime Win Extends the Mustangs Boys Soccer Season

The PCM boys soccer team kept their season alive Monday evening, as they pulled out a 2-1 overtime win over Grand View Christian in the opening round of Class 1A Substate 7 action.

In the opening 80 minutes of action, Justin Johnston provided the Mustangs with their lone goal of regulation in the first half, but the Thunder evened the score in the second half to send the contest into overtime. In the extra time, Dominic Witt earned a penalty kick and found the back of the net to end PCM’s seven-match losing streak and keep their 2023 campaign going.

The PCM boys soccer team improved their record to 4-12 on the season, and they will face Class 1A #4 ranked Des Moines Christian in the semifinals on Monday May 22nd.
