The Pella City Council discussed the Volunteer Firefighter Compensation plan at their meeting Tuesday evening. The measure also highlighted at their May 2nd meeting increases a firefighter’s per call rates and training session pay from $15 to $20 per event, and also increases annual stipends for leadership positions. Also on the agenda was an amendment to the current solid waste agreement with Midwest Sanitation, a preliminary plat for the Pumpkin Patch Farm subdivision, and resolutions to issue communications utility loan notes. A public hearing was scheduled to amend the 2022-23 fiscal year budget, and the council discussed stormwater issues in the community during policy and planning.
