The Pleasantville varsity baseball team improved to 2-0 with a wild 8-7 win over the Chariton Chargers in their home opener yesterday.
Coach Sheldon Card said the Trojans got off to a great start, but gave up seven runs in the seventh. The Trojans won the game on a Jonah Schumacher sacrifice fly. He also hit a two-run home run in the win. Caleb Cook went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double.
Braylon Bingham had 11 strikeouts, earning a no decision on the mound. The Trojan JV team lost 2-0.
Pleasantville plays again Tuesday at home against North Mahaska at 7 p.m.
