The PCM baseball team dropped their second game of the week Wednesday night, falling on the road at Newton 6-3.
The Cardinals grabbed the lead early in the contest with a three-run inning in the bottom of the first and never looked back. Newton added on in the bottom of the second inning with three more runs to push their lead to 6-0. The Mustangs responded by scratching across two runs in the third inning and adding a third run in the sixth inning, but it’s wasn’t enough as PCM fell to 0-2 on the season. Zeb Padget took the loss on the mound in his first start of the season.
The Mustangs are off until Tuesday, when they try to turn things around in their Heart of Iowa Conference opener at home against Nevada.
