The Indianola Wellness Campus is set to be under city control at the end of July, after the city proposed to take over the former Indianola YMCA facility in March. City Manager Ben Reeves tells KNIA News the council approved the formation of a Board of Trustees and approved software purchases, and while there is a lot of work still to do, he feels they are on the correct path.
“This will make it as seamless as possible to transfer all of the members over. The software is the one that the current employees are used to using, and it’s just going to make it a better transition overall. There is a lot of work from changing employees, to membership, to equipment, changing signage and logos, right down the vendors and who provides what. There is a lot of work going on behind the scenes and I just truly appreciate our city staff and YMCA staff for working so well together and making this a great opportunity for our community.”
Reeves also said he appreciates the work of Heather Hulen and her work with not only the YMCA but work with the various city department heads to help ease the transition period.
