A 57-year-old Knoxville woman was arrested May 16 and charged with a felony for Operating a Vehicle while Under the Influence, 3rd Offense and a Serious Misdemeanor for Assault Causing Bodily Injury or Mental Illness.

Officers were called to a residence for a female identified as Angela Sue Hanke, who allegedly was heavily intoxicated and assaulted a male subject. She left the scene before Marion County Deputies arrived. The deputies were assisted by the Knoxville Police Department. Officers located the vehicle and after the stop observed the odor of consumed alcohol on Hanke’s breath and eyes that were bloodshot and watery. A field sobriety test was provided.

Hanke refused the preliminary breath test and she reportedly refused a specimen for breath at the jail.

A male victim said he was verbally and physically abused and accused Hanke of punching him. Officers observed a laceration above his eye and his face appeared swollen.

As is the case with an arrest, people are considered innocent unless proven guilty by a court of law.
