The Norwalk boys soccer team begins their postseason journey Monday night while the baseball team continues non-conference play at Carlisle.

Urbandale will be the host site for the Class 3A, Substate 6 boys soccer semifinals. Norwalk takes a 9-7 overall record into their match against 9-6 Mount Vernon at 5:30 p.m., followed by top-seeded Urbandale vs. Bondurant-Farrar. The winners meet in Wednesday’s 7 p.m. substate final at Urbandale.

The Warriors, who placed second in the Little Hawkeye Conference at 6-1, enter postseason play on a three-game winning streak. Senior Jack Brown has scored 19 of the team’s 40 goals on the year, followed by junior Caden Endres and sophomore Tavin Ferner with five apiece. The Mustangs are the WaMaC East runner-up, having won six straight games and scored 41 total goals. Jason Hoaglund is Mount Vernon’s team leader with 12 goals.

The Norwalk baseball team travels to Carlisle for the first of three games this week at 7:30 p.m. The Warriors take a 1-3 record into the contest while the Wildcats are 2-2.
