The South K Street Paving Project is moving forward in Indianola. City Manager Ben Reeves tells KNIA News there will be a public meeting in June with those affected by the project, and the assessment will determine the process of paying for it.
“We wanted to make sure that we didn’t have incomplete information. Overall for the project, about 30% of the project give or take will be assessed to homeowners, the remainder will be the responsibility of the city. Beyond that, there is a point system based on the benefit received by each property. More benefit if you are right on the road, less benefit if you are further away from the road, so that is a fair process by which homes are assessed for the improvements in that area.”
Reeves said his goal is to make sure the public has all the information possible, so the public meeting will have everything for those who have questions about the project.
