Indianola Parks and Rec is hosting a program highlighting stories from Iowa’s veterans in their next installment of their Afternoon Adventures series next week. Becky Lane with Indianola Parks and Rec tells KNIA News Sara Maniscalco Robinson, and Iowa National Guard Broadcast Journalist since 1997, will discuss the preserved stories of Iowa’s veterans, including accounts of the day Pearl Harbor was bombed, the morning the Twin Towers were attacked, and what it was like to be a woman in the military in WWII among many others. The Afternoon Adventure Speaker Series will be on Tuesday, May 30th at 2pm at the Indianola Activity Center, and is free to the public. The program is funded by Humanities Iowa, a private, non-profit state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
