A 61-year-old Knoxville man was charged with Operating While Under the Influence 3rd Offense following an arrest May 17 in Knoxville.
Anthony Smith, was stopped by Knoxville Police Officers. Smith allegedly had a strong odor of consumed alcoholic beverages. He was asked to step out of the vehicle and was observed to have bloodshot/watery eyes.
Smith reportedly refused field sobriety tests and he was placed under arrest. He was also charged with Interference with Official Acts, Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations. At the hospital ER Smith refused to have his blood drawn and became combative.
As with any criminal case, a charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
