The Knoxville Baseball Squad swept Davis County in the Panthers’ conference opener on Wednesday 5-0 and 10-0 in the nightcap. In the opener, Beau Leisure was his usual dominating self, one day after helping the Panthers to a runner up finish at the State Golf Meet, he wrote a masterpiece allowing no hits through 6 2/3 innings. He finished with 11 strikeouts and helped his own cause by ripping a 2 RBI double In the nightcap, the Panthers jumped out to an 8-0 lead early and cruised from there notching the 9th, and 10th run in the top half of the 5th and slamming the door shut and sending fans home early due to the run rule. Luke Spaur got the win going 2 2/3 innings with one hit. Dakota Ramsey went 2 1/3 innings of no hit ball, while Trey Wight had an RBI single, Koby Higginbotham had a triple and Lincoln Norris had a 2 RBI single. Meanwhile, the Knoxville Softball Squad next door at the Mustang Sports Complex was not as fortunate as the Panthers would strikeout 15 times on a 5-0 loss to the Mustangs. The Panthers were limited to just five hits. Ciara Heffron took the loss, going 2 2/3 innings striking out three and walking one. Ashlyn Finarty worked the final 3 2/3 of relief allowing no runs and striking out three. Knoxville softball is 1-1, 0-1 in the South Central Conference and will host Newton Thursday, while Knoxville Baseball is now 6-0 and begins conference play at 2-0, the Panthers will get a test tonight as they travel to class 4A #10 Indianola.
