The PCM baseball team cruised past Greene County for a 12-0 five-inning win Friday night, and the Class 3A #15 ranked Mustangs Softball team downed the Rams 6-3.
On the baseball diamond at Greene County, PCM used two-run innings in the top of the second and fourth innings, and four-run frames in the third and fifth to pick up their second win of the spring. Easton Webb and Nick Farver each posted two hits and a double in the game and Zeb Padgett added three RBIs in the Mustangs’ win. Trenner Van Dyke was fantastic on the mound for PCM, allowing no hits and just three walks in the five inning game while recording nine strikeouts of the possible 15 outs in the game. With the win, the Mustangs improved their record on the summer to 2-3.
The ranked PCM softball squad made the most of their scoring opportunities, scoring six runs on just four hits and two walks in the game. The Mustangs got on the scoreboard first with a run in the top of the third frame, but the difference in the game came in the fifth inning when PCM plated five runs. Sisters Paige and Addison Steenhoek and their cousin Tori Lindsay collected all four of the RBI’s for the Mustangs in the game. Rylee Parsons got the complete game win in the circle, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and five walks but added four strikeouts to her line as PCM improved to 3-2 on the young season.
Both the Mustangs summer sports teams are off until Tuesday, with the baseball squad hosting Williamsburg and the softball team competing at Chariton.
